Twice a year we hold competitions which require competitors to present a short magical act of around ten minutes.

During March we hold our close-up competition, which involves magical effects with small objects such as money, cards, keys etc. The winner of this is then eligible to go forward and represent the Society at the Southern Counties Close-up Championships held the following month in Basingstoke.

Our other competition is usually held sometime in November. This we call our Stage Competition and is where competitors can perform any kind of magic (except close-up) and for which two cups are awarded - the Magical Cup and the Comedy Cup. A Junior Cup is also awarded to participants under the age of sixteen where applicable.
